Breaking Stereotypes Animation as a Powerful Medium For Brands_Vivi5 Studios (1)

Animation allows us to bring life to concepts that are difficult to grasp in words…or live action

Animation is a medium that’s perceived to be for kids’ content, only. Many assume that everything that animation shows is cartoony. This medium is often underestimated as far away from reality or an illusion, an exaggeration of expressions.

Well, we along with many animation filmmakers in advertising have been consistently breaking this myth by creating awareness and informational films that evoke emotions. Films like Bottle Story’ & ‘Coca Factory’ by Coca-Cola, ‘Dreaming Girl’ by Target, and ‘Magic of Light’ by Bajaj Electrical, are some good examples of advertising through animation.

The Right to Education: Tailoring for the Right Audience

Even though education is a basic right, it’s still a privilege for many. UNICEF made a wise decision to use animation as a means to convey its message. The idea was to spread the word that everyone deserved educational rights. No matter the colour of your skin, your economic background, or the region you belong to.

With animation, we could create a diverse group of children, all preaching this commandment. Animation also allowed us to tell this story in a short duration. The use of 3D animation with a combination of art & design speaks of the regional culture, with clay-like texture bringing life to a screen that was “rooted in reality”. If there is one thing that this film could achieve, it was a message of inclusivity of the Right to Education for every child.

Smart ways to spread your message

No one wants to get hit by a train, but we still seem to cross train tracks without thinking twice. Vivi5 Studios created a twisted film Trane AC Song with ITSA for Trane AC. The idea was to question the mortifying inventions in reference to the act of laziness by the main character. The script and the visuals complement and tribute to the famous ‘Dumb Ways to Die’ film by Melbourne Metro while bringing a different take on dying, of course! Such an eclectic treatment can only be found through the usage of animation.

Farming Morality

Animal cruelty is a topic that has caught the wind lately. It’s a sick practice that plagues the meat industry. “Back to the Start‘ was a film commissioned by Chipotle Mexican Grill. It was a heart-touching story of a meat farmer who started producing meat in bulk, without caring about how the animals were treated. This was until he had an epiphany and realised his toxic ways. The stop motion treatment and the music really pull the right chords, making it really pull at the chords.
